Transforming ideas into solutions The month of May derives its name from Maia, the goddess of spring and fertility, and has been celebrated as a time for new beginnings. Pitsco embraces that celebration with the new Pitsco STEM Expeditions® curriculum. Teachers are delighted with the enthusiasm and productivity STEM Expeditions bring to classrooms as students demonstrate “more creativity and divergent thinking . . . more troubleshooting, more real-world activities” (Robert McLeish, Tuffree Middle School, Placentia, CA). Students appreciate that STEM Expedition activities apply “to everyday life” (Emma, Pittsburg [KS] Community Middle School student). The goal of each STEM Expedition is for students to transform their ideas into solutions. Students learn from their failures, thus enabling them to develop problem-solving skills. The flexibility of the curriculum allows partners to have different answers, enhancing both independent and collaborative skills. STEM Expeditions such as Contraptions, Making Waves, Electric Tech, and Bio Research provide a fertile microcosm of learning excitement for teacher and student. To acquire the funds to enjoy exposure to STEM Expeditions, explore the following sources.
