FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
REFLECTION

REFLECTION
Lent is a season of preparation, there is a rhythm of fasting with the Sundays throughout Lent traditionally being marked as days of Celebration. Ephesians 5:25 says “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her” Christ loves the church and we should celebrate the church as well! Take a few minutes today and thank God for Rolling Hills, for incredible times of worship and the Word of God being faithfully preached, for your Community Group, for the student, kids, and preschool ministries teaching our kids about the life transforming love and grace of Jesus.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:33-36
“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” Romans 13:12
PRAYER Lord Jesus, forgive me for all the ways I have added to this simple truth. That if we declare without mouths that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in our hearts that God raised You from the grave, we will be saved. I have over and over tried to make Your grace in rescuing me about me and what I can do rather than resting in Your finished and complete work on the cross.
PRAYER Oh the deeps and riches of the wisdom and knowledge of You Lord God of all! You are beyond my understanding Your ways and Your thoughts are higher that mine. I trust You because You counsel me, and everything I have is Yours, because You created all things and all things were created for Your glory. Let my heart continue pour out Your praise, giving You glory forever and every.
PRAYER For my good, over and over again in Your word You encourage and warn Your children to put off sin and darkness, and to put on lives marked by holiness. Good Father, open my eyes to the deeds of the darkness that I can not see, sinful pride, covetousness, and jealousy that robs me of the peace that You have purchased for me. Give me strength instead to walk in holiness, holding fast to what is good, loving, and serving others.

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” Romans 14:17-19
“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” Romans 16:20
What passage from this week has stirred your heart to a deeper love for Jesus and encouraged you to greater faith in Him.
PRAYER
PRAYER
Sovereign God You keep Your promises! Here again, You affirm the promise You made in Genesis 3:15 will soon be complete as Satan our enemy, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, the liar and deceiver; Will soon be crushed forever under the foot of our gracious servant King Jesus Christ the promised one. Help me Lord to rest in Your promises, to remain confident in Your complete victory on the cross of Christ.
From the passage or passages you selected pen your own prayer expressing your love and faith in Christ. Also, ask the Lord to prepare your heart and the hearts of your family, friends, and community as we gather on Sunday to worship our Savior and open His Word.
PRAYER God of peace, within the church we can disagree on foolish things. Help me to make every effort within Your church to do what leads to peace and the building up of the body.
