Week Six – Dear Fallen Galatians 6:1-10 Spend FIFTEEN - Day One 1. Can you remember a time where you were caught in the act of some sort of sin and there was no way to talk your way out of it? What happened?

2. Read Galatians 6:1-3. How would you define the word sin?

3. According to Paul, what’s the proper response when you see someone in sin?

4. Can you think of someone who is caught up in some sort of sin who could use your help? How could you follow this scripture and “restore that person gently” and “carry each other’s burdens”?

5. Read Galatians 6:4-5 and Matthew 7:2-4. What do these verses say about the type of attitude we should have when approaching a brother or sister in sin?

6. Finish your FIFTEEN in prayer. Ask God for help in searching your own heart to root out sin and for a spirit of kindness and gentleness when dealing with the sin of others.

Spend FIFTEEN - Day Two 7. Do you think that people ultimately get what’s coming to them? Why or why not?

8. Read Galatians 6:7-8. How would you explain these two verses in your own words?

9. How does Galatians 6:8 measure up with Isaiah 64:6? If even our good works are unclean before God, how could we ever “sow to please the Spirit”?

10. Read Galatians 6:9-10. If it’s impossible for our good works to please God, it’s no wonder we can easily become exhausted. For whom does verse 10 say our good works are intended? How does that change how you look at good works?

11. With the above in mind, how would you answer this question: “Are good works necessary for a Christian?”

12. Think of someone today for whom you want to do something good that’s out of the ordinary. Finish your FIFTEEN by making a plan to do that thing and praying that your life would be one that is lived out in thanks for

what God has done for you.

Spend FIFTEEN - Day Three 13. What are some creative ways you see advertisers trying to get people’s attention? Why do they/don’t they work?

14. Read Galatians 6:11-12. Sometimes Paul uses scribes to write what he speaks aloud. But this is so important, and he is so passionate about the topic, that he grabs the pen himself and writes. What is the reason Paul gives for people wanting to lift up circumcision and following the traditional Jewish laws?

15. Have you ever avoided talking about Jesus or making it known that you are a Christian because you were afraid of how people would respond? What happened?

16. Read Galatians 6:13. It seems that those who favor circumcision are using it to hide the fact that they don’t measure up. In what ways have you seen yourself and others try to explain away some sin or mistake?

17. What does scripture say about what God sees and what we try to hide? a. Hebrews 4:13 b. Jeremiah 23:24 c. Psalm 139:1-4 18. Finish your FIFTEEN in prayer and reflection. Think about the past few days. What’s happened of which you aren’t especially proud? What’s happened that you’ve been trying to hide or forget? Read 1 John 3:20. God sees your heart, knows it and, in Christ, has overcome it. God loves you.

Spend FIFTEEN - Day Four 19. Of what about yourself (trait, accomplishment, etc.) are you most proud?

20. Read Galatians 6:14-16. In verse 14, Paul says the only thing about which we should boast about is the cross of Jesus Christ. What’s the difference between pride and boasting?

21. What does it mean to boast about the cross of Jesus Christ? What does that phrase symbolize?

22. According to Paul, what counts above all else? How often do you live your life as if the only thing that counts is the new creation?

23. In verse 16, Paul’s logic follows that those who boast in Christ’s work on the cross, and look forward to the new creation have peace and mercy beyond all else. Do you find that true for yourself? Why or why not?

24. What would it look like for you to fully live out the concept of boasting in nothing else but Jesus and what He promises?

25. Finish your FIFTEEN in prayer. Spend time in adoration of God for the great things He has done for you and for all people. Pray that He would give you a chance this week to boast to someone else about the gospel.

Spend FIFTEEN - Day Five 26. If you knew you were about to die and had a chance to say some final words, what would you want to say and to whom would you say it?

27. Read Galatians 6:17-18. Paul always ends his letters with a blessing. In Galatians, his last words include a reminder. What do you think this reminder means in verse 17?

28. In verse 18, Paul’s final blessing to the Galatians is for them to have the grace of the presence of Christ within them. Even though he is frustrated and angry, his final blessing is filled with love and hope. Why do you think he ends this way?

29. What do the following verses tell you about how Christians are to bless people even when the situation is less than ideal? a. Romans 12:4 b. Luke 6:28 c. 1 Peter 3:9 30. Finish your FIFTEEN by thinking about someone God is calling you to bless. Maybe it is an enemy, a broken relationship or someone with whom you are simply annoyed right now. Write, email, text or call him or her to share a blessing today. Pray that God would help you even though it is difficult and that He would use the blessing to accomplish something great.
