50 Days of Love What Matters Most 1 Corinthians 13.1-3 April 20, 2014

John 3.16 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 15.13 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Romans 5.8 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Matthew 28.1-10 Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.” The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”  New Series – 50 Days of Love – 1 Corinthians 13 – Today

1 Corinthians 13.1-3 1 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

If I Don’t Live a Life of Love: 1. Nothing I Say Will Matter 2. Nothing I Know Will Matter 3. Nothing I Believe Will Matter 1 John 4.19-21 19 We love because he first loved us. 20Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

4. Nothing I Give Will Matter 5. Nothing I Accomplish Will Matter

The Bible Says: 1. Love is a Command John 15.12, 14 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. 14You are My friends if you do what I command you.

2. Love is a Choice 1 Corinthians 14.1a 1 Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts…

3. Love is a Conduct 1 John 3.18 18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
