SERMON NOTES December 29th, 2013

Seeing the Word: Ruth & Naomi But Ruth said, “Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die – there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you!” When Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more to her. So the two of them went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they came to Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them; and the women said, “Is this Naomi?” She said to them, “Call me no longer Naomi, call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt bitterly with me...” So Naomi returned together with Ruth the Maobite, her daughter-in-law, who came back with her from the country of Moab. They came to Bethlehem at the beginning of the barley harvest. (Ruth 1: 16-20,22 The Saint John’s Bible)

Year End Giving Thank you for your faithful giving through out the year. If you planning on giving an end of the year gift, please make sure it is postmarked by December 31st or for your convenience you can give online at any time. Wednesday NIght Activities All regularly schedued activities will resume on January 8th. This includes children, youth , adult, and yoga classes. Grab a friend and join us as we grow together as a community of faith. Marathon Sunday The P.F. Changs marathon is on Sunday, January 19th this year. The route of the marathon is close to the church and makes it impossible to get here in the morning so we will have an evening dinner (soups and chilis) at 5:00p followed by a worship service at 6:00p. Gifts Class Join us for a class that will help you explore your spiritual gifts. This is the perftect class to try if you aren’t sure what your spiritual gifts are or where you could use them. It’s a one time crash course on Saturday, January 25th from 10:00a - 1:00p in E101. Lunch will be included. Weekly Financial Update Actual Giving: $20,100 Weekly Budget Need: $13,500
