What’s the Bible all about? • The word biblio – Greek - relating to a book or books. • The Bible is a book of books • 40 authors written over 1600 years • Written in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.

What’s the Bible all about? • Still the best selling book world wide • 3.9 Billion copies have been sold – doesn’t include given away • Most translated book which is about 2300 languages – 94% of the written known languages.

Some Bibles have more that 66 Books? The Apocrypha – means “Hidden Books” Written between 200 BC and AD 100 Mainly Historical or Fictional stories OT books never accepted by Jews scholars as inspired • NT books not in any Bibles

• Two tests were used for deciding whether it was inspired – Was what was predicted for the future accurate – Was it teach people to turn to God

• One group of Jews were known as the Masoretes

What’s the Bible all about? • Masoretes followed these precise rules when copying– About ink used – Length of line, number of letters, number of lines per scroll – Nothing from memory – Studied the original, spoken out loud then copied – Checked word and letter counts – Entire scroll checked by supervisor
