From the Minister to Women and Children

Nancy Hannon Spotlight on……Bridgett Cossey

One of the most unsung heroes of Children’s Ministry is the person who runs the Preschool. Not only is it the area with the most focus when it comes to safety and security, it is also the area that runs the largest number of volunteers through each Sunday. No matter how much a parent enjoys the worship or how powerful the sermon might be, if they don’t feel like their children are safe and being cared for, they will not be back to your church. The weight of that, plus making sure there are plenty of adults in the toddler room (as well as plenty of snacks!) lies on the shoulders of the Preschool Minister. For the past two years, those shoulders have belonged to Bridgett Cossey. Bridgett and her husband John have been members of Conway’s First since 2014, and have served in various capacities during those four years. John currently serves on the Property Committee and is a Safety Monitor. Bridgett, who formerly worked in the Preschool at Conway Christian School, was a volunteer in the preschool ministry here for several years before she joined the staff. Bridgett is one of the most organized people I have ever met. She has done wonders for the Resource Room and has tamed my packrat tendencies, at least in that area of the church! Her patience with children is one of the things I admire most about Bridgett. I have seen her—on several occasions—sit on the floor with a child who was in the middle of a meltdown and with her calm ways and soothing voice, ease them into rejoining their class, and before you know it, they’re smiling and having a good time. So, it is with mixed feelings that I announce to you today that their family business is booming (which is great), but it means that she needs to give more focus to both her family and their business, and will no longer have the time to work here at the church managing the Preschool Ministry. Please join with me today in thanking Bridgett for all of her hard work and dedication to kids and their families. We appreciate you!
