Read the Scriptures: Luke 19 : 1-10 Background: In the time of Jesus, there were tax collectors who would collect taxes from the people. They worked for the Roman government because the Romans ruled over the Israelites. The Israelites hated them because they were dishonest. The tax collectors collected more tax than the Roman government required so they could keep the extra for themselves.

Applications: From the story of Zacchaeus, we can observe that Jesus loves every single person, including sinners. He loves them no matter what they have done or what others think of them. You and I are sinners too. Do you know that Jesus loves you no matter what you have done, or how other people think of you? He wants to save you from sin. He will forgive you of all your sins as long as you are willing to turn away from the old ways, just like Zacchaeus.
